Project #3

One of my favorite things about Saturday mornings is waking up knowing I get to stay in my pajamas. I like to stay curled beneath the sheets reveling in the fact that I don’t have to be anywhere. Another Saturday favorite is staying in my pajamas as long as I possibly can. Sigh, it’s a beautiful thing. I would stay in them all day. But once it’s past lunch my husband usually chimes in with, “Pamela, I think it’s time.” So you might be able to imagine my excitement when the next pattern in Tilly’s book is her Margot Pyjama Bottoms.

These were actually my first pants to ever sew! And I found myself banging my head on the table a few times. I also realized I talk to my sewing machine… a lot. Is that normal?

In spite of the headbanging and conversations with my machine, I’m pretty pleased with how they turned out. I started to enjoy watching them come together. They are a little big around the waist but since they are just pajamas I don’t care too much. I can see myself sewing several more of these. I think they would make sweet little happys for friends too. You can do so many great things in them: get cozy on your bed and read I’ll Drink to That, get cozy in your favorite red chair and sip on some good coffee. Regardless of what you’d do, I’m pretty certain coziness would be involved.

Have you ever made pajamas before? Any favorite patterns you like to use?

Happy Monday!

  1. I talk to my machine. It’s called Bessie…

I’ve also made two pairs of the Margot PJs so far and they’re super comfortable, though they were my first pair of trousers and they left me scratching my head a bit too (thinking of trying to work out how sewing the crotch together worked – it was too much for a Sunday afternoon).

    • Yes! The crotch was difficult for me too! That’s when banging my head came into play. For me I just needed to sew the inner thigh seam closer to the crotch than I had originally done. Maybe try them again on a Saturday afternoon.
